Maciej Czarnik

Patent & trademark attorney, European patent attorney. Managing Partner.

He holds MSc in biology (biophysics) and MA in philosophy (both from Jagiellonian University). In years 2004-2011 he was working for Jagiellonian University technology transfer office, managing projects in knowledge and technology transfer and promotion of academic entrepreneurship. Frequent speaker at seminars and conferences on protection of intellectual property and academic entrepreneurship. In years 2010-2018 he hold the position of the deputy director of the drug research centre at the Jagiellonian University, where in years 2018-2023 he was IPR specialist. In 2022 he became European patent attorney (EQE qualified). Also acts as a representative before the Unified Patent Court.

He is experienced in drafting and prosecution of patent, utility models and industrial designs applications.

Co-editor for publications on innovation development i.a. Nauka i Biznes: refleksy i refleksje (Jagiellonian University 2005) and Oblicza innowacji (Klub Eureka 2004), co-author of collective works: Finansowanie projektów innowacyjnych. Poradnik dla przedsiębiorców i przedstawicieli środowiska akademickiego (Małopolska Agency for Energy and Environment 2007), Nauka i Biznes: strategie współpracy (Jagiellonian University 2006).

In years 2006-2008 member of the Working Group for Bio-economy Development at the Polish Minister of Science and Higher Education; co-author of the action plan Stan i kierunki rozwoju Biogospodarki (Ministry of Science and Higher Education 2007).

Co-founder and president of the foundation Centre for Innovative Society (CIRS). From 2018 to 2023 president in the association High Schools’ Patent Attorneys Working Group.
